God is in his heaven again, and all’s right in the world

Bill & Opus

The boys are back in town

Scene: I’m on the couch in my college apartment, doubled over in hysterics, tears streaming down my face. I’m laughing so hard, I can’t breathe and start to violently hiccup. On my lap is a Bloom County book. My roommate comes out of her room to see if I’m OK.

“I’ve died and gone to heaven,” was all I managed to say.

So, with the news this week that Berkeley Breathed has returned with Bloom County, it must mean I am going back to hang out with all my favorite bumbling angels of hilarity. No crazy-making P.C. editors, publishers, and fun-murdering deadlines for Breathed this time. The strip will only appear on his Facebook page. And Opus has a Twitter account. (sigh) God is back in his heaven and all is finally going to be alright with the world again.

  1. I’m really not familiar with this…but I love this line: “God is back in his heaven and all is finally going to be alright with the world again.” I hope you don’t mind if I quote you some time??

    1. Sure! I didn’t make it up, but feel free. The phrase I’d always heard actually goes: God is in his heaven and all is right with the world (my take implied HE had left, but has returned).
